Handmade Aprons

  Photo Pages 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6

This apron was made by Love to Sew for PAULA DEEN! I call this handmade apron, "Springtime." This vintage apron is made from vintage floral fabric that has pretty coral flowers with yellow centers and green leaves and stems printed on it.  Paula's apron is trimmed in 3 layers of pretty rick-rack and has a green swirl print fabric down the center to slim one's figure. Paula Deen's vintage apron is a very soft and feminine looking apron.

Here is Paula holding it!

Ready for some serious cooking with this apron.

"Burnt Sienna" Our "Burnt Sienna" bibbed apron is a simple throw over the head casual apron. It's made from two cotton calico fabrics of golden rod and burnt sienna color, and has 2 front pockets, a bib pocket trimmed in pretty burnt sienna lace, and long ties.

An apron for spring time.

"The Blues" is made from 3 pleasant blue, cream, and lavender cotton fabrics. They compliment each other with color and print.  The bottom border is a charming blue, cream and lavender print, and the deep pockets, long ties, and waistband fabric is a blue strip fabric.

"Butterfly weed" Our "Butterfly weed" bib garden apron was named after it's color fabric with pretty flowers printed on it which are similar to the butterfly weed plant. This garden apron has 3 large front pockets with brown trim, a decorative top pocket with feminine eyelet trim, and long ties.  The large apron piece goes all the way to the back to protect your clothes as seen in the photo above.

Top of the morning to you while you are baking!

"Pretty Eyelet" apron is made from pure white pretty eyelet cotton fabric. It is full and long, with long ties.  Our "Pretty Eyelet" apron can be a charming accessory with any Sunday dress or sun dress.

The apron came about because of practical necessity. In years gone by, people didn't have the luxury of owning a large wardrobe. Washing and drying clothing was not done on a frequent basis. So aprons served a practical purpose of covering up the dress underneath to project it from soiling. This made washing much easier.  The apron would be washed every couple of days but the dress or clothing underneath did not have to be washed as much, perhaps maybe once a week. Click here for more apron history information.
