How to make an Autograph Heart Pillow...an easy sewing craft project for kids

This adorable Heart Autograph Pillow is a great project to make for a birthday party, graduation, sleep over, wedding, or how about using pink and blue fur and make it for a baby shower where everyone can say what they want on your pillow for the new mom and baby, or it would even be great for a going away party so everyone could say their goodbyes on it.

First, draw yourself a big heart on paper.  Mine was about 18".  I wanted it big heart so lots of autographs could go on it. Then pin it onto 2 layers of a light colored COTTON fabric like white. Then cut along your heart pattern.

Next pin your heart around the edges like you see in the picture and leave an opening so that you can stuff it.  The pretty sides of the fabric are on the outside.  This means you can see them, because with this project, there is no need to turn it pretty side out.

Sew around your heart leaving an opening and don't forget to back-tack at the beginning and the end. Once you have sewn around your heart go ahead and stuff it.  You do not want to stuff it too firm. Then sew the opening closed.

Begin by folding the fur in half and pinning it on your heart so that both the back and the front of your heart has equal amounts of fur trim.

Instead of buying fur then  cutting the fur into strips and getting little pieces of fur everywhere, fabric stores and stores like Wal-Mart sell PRE-CUT, Pre-finished strips of fur, which is what I used.  Boy did that make this project a lot easier!!!

Sew the fur around your pillow BY HAND.  You can sew the fur on the machine but most likely the fur will get stuck in your needle and your pressure foot and you will break a couple of needles, so it is best to sew it by hand.

Once you have sewn the fur around your pillow your heart is ready to have everyone sign it!!!
