Our 2011 BARBIE
Fashion Challenge |
| |
| The
Challenge: |
| Designers ages 10-15 had
less than one hour to create a look for BARBIE using both machine
sewing and hand sewing techniques with no patterns. The Barbie dolls
were on display at the Unionville community fair for the day while
fair goers placed a button in a jar to vote for their favorite look.
Everyone from little girls who dream of becoming fashion designers
someday to Dads and Grandpas were eager to grab a button and vote.
Many of the audience spent a good amount of time studying the detailed
work of the outfits. Unfortunately, the rain began around 230pm,
discouraging people to come into the tent. However, everyone was
impressed, and it was a very close race. |

Roobi wins first place
with many viewers (43 buttons in her jar). This vintage look won
the hearts of most older ladies and gentlemen with comments like,
"I'm voting for the vintage classic look!" |

Kelli's second place
look was made from classic Barbie colors and styled with one bare
shoulder--a style which can be seen everywhere in stores today,
won the hearts of most teens and pre-teens with 21 buttons. |

Chelsea's cute
sundress, waist-cinching belt, and matching hat wins her a very
close third place trophy with 20 buttons. |

Sarah takes fourth
place with 19 buttons. (I told you it was a close race!) Sarah won
the hearts of many little girls with the pink gown she made. |

Megan's heavily
stylized avant garde look comes close as well, with 15 buttons. |
