Bird's Nest Candy: Homemade Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Caramel

These delicious birds nest candy are a sweet treat to welcome Easter and Spring time. They can be made in many different ways, but this version with pretzels and caramel pieces tends to be a favorite at our parties!

Bird's Nest Candy: Homemade Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Caramel

This recipe is hard to give exact measurements. Just "play" with the recipe until you have the correct consistency of how you want the birds nest to look.

about 1 cup of caramel bits
about 2 cups of stick pretzels
about 1 lb of your favorite milk chocolate wafers to melt (we use Merckens)
egg candy to put on top of nest (we use Reese's peanut butter pastel eggs)

Bird's Nest Candy: Homemade Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Caramel

Melt the milk chocolate wafers to the correct consistency. You don't want the chocolate too hot when you are ready to add the rest of the ingredients.

Add pretzels and caramel pieces. Gently stir. If the mixture is too runny, add more pretzel sticks.

Form shapes into nests in the size desired. Put shapes onto a cookie sheet covered in wax paper.

Immediately, while the chocolate is still in liquid form add 3 little eggs to the nest. Push them down gently. This will help them stick to the chocolate and stay on the nest.

Place the bird's nest candies on a pretty dish with Easter grass, and enjoy!

Our FAVORITE MELTING CHOCOLATES WAFERS FOR CANDY MAKING

Our Favorite Chocolate Wafers for Candy Making is Merckens!!!

YUMMY! Even the white chocolate Merckens are the best!

Our Other Favorite, Ghirardelli's!

Wilton's chocolate is not our favorite for taste, but if you are on a tight budget, it's great!
