Buttons come in all different sizes, shapes,
and colors. One must be careful when picking out buttons for a garment
that they made. Buttons can play a large part on how the over all
appearance of a handmade garment will look. A plain style garment can look
very glamorous with the right diamond button, on the other hand, a well
matched button to fabric on a garment can look elegant and fabulous too.
Attaching buttons to an article of clothing
that you just made is the last step you will do. For best results hand sew
your buttons on and use beeswax on the thread to make it stronger and easier
to sew with.
Buttons take a lot of wear and tear and
pulling on, so make sure that the button is sewn on the garment nice and
firm. However, the button must be loose enough to fit through the button
hole and sit nicely with out pulling on the garment.
Decorative buttons do not need a shank, however
it is mandatory that you sew a shank on
a button that will be used. |
