Homemade Christmas Candy, & Fudge Recipes:

Delicious chocolate covered oreo balls recipe that is so easy to make.

Chocolate Covered Oreo Balls Recipe
1 (18 ounce) package Oreo cookies
1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese (softened and room temperature)
1 (12 ounce) bag dark chocolate melting wafers, or white chocolate melting wafers

Knowing that Oreos are my favorite cookies, my mom made these Oreo Truffles a couple Christmas's ago, and they've been a favorite ever since! They are sinfully good and easy to make. They will be the first to disappear at any party, any time of the year!

Crush the Oreos to small pieces using a plastic bag or food processor. Make sure you have little chunks and not a powder. Mix or stir together the Oreo pieces with the room temperature cream cheese. This will be a little tough to do. If you use a mixer it will keep getting stuck, so it's best to use your muscles and mix it by hand.

Place waxed paper on a cookie sheet. Roll the mixture into bite-sized balls and place on waxed paper. Place cookie sheet in freezer and allow to harden for about one hour.

Melt the chocolate wafers to the correct consistency. Stick a toothpick or wooden skewer into a ball and then dip into the melted chocolate. Place back on the wax paper and remove toothpick.

Be creative! Add jimmy's, sprinkles, crushed nuts, or colored sugars. You can also get a pretty color of melted chocolate like red or green for Christmas time, or red or pink for Valentine's day, and drizzle it over the coated Oreo balls! Here's another idea... make them a little smaller with the mint Oreo cookies and drizzle some green melted candy wafers on top of the chocolate, and you've got yourself a delicious after dinner mint or treat to serve to your guest.

Last point we'd like to make, we have found that the dark chocolate taste best with this combining the sweetness of the Oreo mixture and the bitterness of the dark chocolate candy coating. The white chocolate coating looks nice and also taste great together. The milk chocolate coating tends to be too sweet mixed with the sweet chocolate Oreo mixture.

Our Favorite Chocolate Wafers for Candy Making is Merckens!!!

YUMMY! Even the white chocolate Merckens are the best!

Our Other Favorite, Ghirardelli's!

Wilton's chocolate is not our favorite for taste, but if you are on a tight budget, it's great!
