| Chocolate covered
pretzels are just about everyone's favorite during the Christmas
season. The combined taste of a pretzel with salt and chocolate is so
delicious, and there is nothing like the homemade kind. A tray of
white, milk, and dark chocolate covered pretzels makes a nice treat to
bring to co-workers for a holiday party or to any party just
because you feel like being cheerful and giving. |
|
| My
favorite..., chocolate covered pretzels! This homemade candy works best
with any of the melted chocolates;
milk, dark, or white. However, sometimes you may need a second coat while
covering the pretzels with white chocolate, if the first coat is too thin
and you can see the brown in the pretzel. Use the pretzels that taste best
to your liking. I only use Herrs pretzels (Only found on the east coast of
the US.) and Merkens chocolate because that is what my family likes the
best. If the pretzels have a lot of salt on them rub some off. As you dip
the pretzels some of the salt will go into the melted chocolate making the
chocolate taste salty by the end process.
Melt the chocolate wafers to the
correct consistency. Turn off the heat and remove pan from stove. Make
sure your chocolate is not too hot and thin because it will not cover the
pretzel correctly. Using a fork or chopstick take a pretzel and dip it
into the melted chocolate. Let it drip for a little bit in the pan. Then
transfer to a piece of wax paper to harden. |
| Once
the pretzels are nice and hard you may package them. Chocolate covered
pretzels look nice arranged on a pretty antique
long dish with
Christmas greenery surrounding it. Or put five or six in a bag and tie up
with a pretty ribbon and mini ornament or greenery. These little packages
make nice gift toppers, stocking stuffers, and teacher's gifts. |
