"Cold Oven Orange Pound Cake with Orange Glaze"

Recipe for cold oven orange pound cake.

This orange pound cake is delicious for dessert, a mid afternoon snack, or even as a quick breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea!

Cold Oven Orange Pound Cake with Orange Glaze

Ingredients for Cake:

1 cup of butter at room temperature
3 cups of sugar

6 large eggs at room temperature

3 cup sifted all-purpose flour

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 teaspoons fresh orange juice

zests of two medium oranges

pinch of salt

Ingredients for Orange Glaze Icing:
2 cups of confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup of fresh squeezed orange juice
zest of 1 orange

Do no preheat the oven. This is called "Cold Oven Pound Cake" because it goes in a cold oven.

Grease and flour the bottom, sides, and tube of a 9-inch tube cake pan.

Cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well after each egg. Add the orange juice and orange zest.

On slow speed stir in the four and heavy cream alternating each. Add the vanilla.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and put in a cold oven. Set the oven temperature to 325 degrees F. Begin timing now and bake the cake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Test to see if cake is done by inserting a toothpick in the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done. Cool cake in the pan for about 30 - 40 minutes. Then turn on a cake plate.

In a small bowl mix all the ingredients for the orange glaze icing. Drizzle the glaze over the cake. Enjoy!

Here is a recipe for cold oven orange pound cake with orange glaze on top.

I was feeling all in the autumn mood when I took this photo of my kitchen with the cold oven orange pound cake in the background. My "autumn leaves" Yankee Candle was burning, the fire was going and I had my boxes of handmade Halloween decorations all ready to put out on display. I also wanted to show you my hand painted country pig art that a local artist painted on old barn wood. My sister convinced me to get it and put it in my kitchen. Reluctantly I bought it, but fell in love with it once I saw it hung against the brick wall, and it is now my favorite piece in my country kitchen!
