Designing, Sewing, and Making Costumes

Costume Design Photo Pages 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

Early American Gowns that were sewn by sewing students Jacquelyn and Katie.

These early American gown costumes were designed and made by Jacqueline and Kate. They worked very hard and their effort shows.

Hermione from Harry Potter costume designed and sewn by Jessica.

Jessica made the following for her "Harry Potter, Hermione" costume: the pleated skirt, the hat, the robe with a hidden wand compartment, the tags on her robe, and the large Harry Potter books.  She even sewed a "Hogwarts" logo on the back of the robe. On opening day of the new book many people were asking to have their picture taken with Jess.

Hand sewn Hermione costume from Harry Potter.

Sara, a true Harry Potter fan, just like Jessica, wanted to make her own robe. Her robe or cape was made from  beautiful black velvet fabric, and her hood was lined with deep purple velvet fabric. She added a large Hogwarts emblem patch on her robe to make it official.

A photo of Amber's Revolutionary ball gown she made.

Amber designed and made this Revolutionary ball gown.  She had to alter an existing pattern. Very beautiful.

Always use a four-way stretch fabric when sewing dance or gymnatics costumes.

This costume was designed by me.  I sent my drawings with my colors to a very talented lady in Canada and she altered them and made this beautiful Rhythmic Gymnastics costume for Jessica.

A beautiful long skirt Jessica sewed after watching "Gone with the Wind."

Jessica designed this skirt on paper first, (after watching "Gone with the Wind"), and then made it.  It was a big challenge. She wore it at an 1700's quilt fair.  What a great job!!!

A handmade demontor costume that Erika sewed after reading the Harry Potter books.

Erika made a demontor costume from Harry Potter.  She made it from black crushed velvet fabric and slit the fabric at the hem and arms to create the "demon" look.  Great job Erika.
