How to Make a Fabric Toy Bone for Your Dog or Puppy

For this quick and easy toy dog bone you will need less than 1/4 of a yard of fabric.

First find or draw a dog bone pattern about 8" X 5".  You are more than welcome to use my pattern shown to the left.

Just copy and paste the photo to a word document.  Then enlarge it enough so that is measures about 8" X 5". Print it, and you have a pattern you can use over and over again.

Fold your fabric in half so that you will have two dog bone pieces, one for the back and one for the front.

Pin your dog bone pattern on your fabric.

Cut it out.

Place the pretty sides of your dog bone together.  Pin around the outer edges leaving an opening at the bottom as shown.
Stitch around the dog bone using the pressure foot as your guide or a 1/4" seam allowance. Notice the opening at the bottom for turning and stuffing.
Turn the toy dog bone pretty side out and stuff with fiberfill.  Make it nice and firm so your dog can get a hold of it to play with it.

Hand stitch the opening closed.  Use close tight stitches and double knot the beginning and the end since your dog will be throwing this around, you want it to stay intact.

Your toy dog bone is finished.  Send us a photo of your dog and his new toy.  We'd love to see your work.
