Making a Pieced Patchwork Quilt

|
| About Pieced & Patchwork Quilts - |
These type of quilts can be
very easy and some can be very difficult. Each of these quilts can
be quilted by machine, by hand, or by knotting. |
| Best Fabric to Use - |
The best type of fabric to use
for these type of quilts would be light and medium weight cottons.
DO NOT use a fabric that stretches. |
| Easy type of Pattern - |
An easy type of pattern would
be one that you will see A LOT of pictures of in the photo section.
It is simply sewing squares in rows and then sewing the row together to
make a quilt top. There is a link below for a free colored
photographed directions for an easy pieced quilt to make. |
| Difficult type of Pattern -
|
A more difficult type would be
squares, triangles, rectangles, circles, and different size shapes to sew
together for a quilt. The photo to the right shows a more difficult quilt
to make. |
|
Cost & Fabric Usage -
|
This all depends on
how many scraps of fabric you have laying around the house. If you
have plenty enough to make squares, rectangles, and triangles to sew
together, then the cost will not be too high. Remember though, you
will need a large piece of fabric for your backing, and you will have to
purchase batting also. |

up with in pieced quilting. There is no other word for it besides
amazing!!! Have fun with colors, textures, and fabrics, and let your
creativity go wild!!! |

Quilts come in all
kinds of styles, shapes and sizes. When making your quilt, determine and
chose your fabrics and designs carefully. An awesome quilt is the scrappy
quilt. Scrappy quilts are made out of whatever leftover (or "scrap")
fabric is lying around. "Fat Quarters" can be used for this type of quilt
also. Sometimes the quilt will have a theme, like
"shades of green," or "hearts." No matter what is used, these quilts are
very traditional in America and has a charm like no other. |
