Sewing with Fleece Fabric

Fleece is fun to sew.

About Fleece - Fleece fabric is more of a "Fall and Winter" fabric to work with. It is soft and thick, and will keep one warm on a cold winter night. Fleece comes in solid colors and prints. Fleece can be cut in any direction without unraveling at the edges.
Uses For Fleece -  Fleece can be used for many things such as: blankets, scarves, hats, gloves, jackets, and even pants to keep you real warm during the cold months of winter.
Average Cost - Fleece usually runs about $5.00 - $20.00 a yard.
Comments - Fleece stretches, so you must be careful when sewing with fleece because it could easily "move" when you are sewing.

Here is a reversible fleece coat.  One side is Ultra Suede fabric and the other side is off white fleece fabric. This was a little hard to make.  I had to use a lot of pins while sewing it because fleece stretches so easily.
These pillows are made out of fleece. The great thing about fleece is, it doesn't fray apart at the end. I simply cut these ends to make it looked fringed.
Isn't he cute!!! The hat, scarf, and top is made out of fleece on this adorable snowman I made. Fleece hides many sewing boo boos. Fleece fabric is so thick that if there is a lump in your project, you would hardly notice it.
This scarf is made out of fleece. This is a very easy project to make.  Once again see how you can just cut the ends of fleece and the fabric does not come unraveled.

The best thing about sewing with fleece fabric is that the edges don't ravel or come undone.  This means with certain projects you don't have to sew up a hem.  Fleece would be a great fabric to use if making a quick Halloween costume and you just don't have the time to hem or bind your seams.
