Learn to Sew Fashion Accessories Tutorial

First you will want to make a pattern for your headband. Using computer paper or tracing paper, make a rectangle measuring about 5" X 12". Make all the markings on the pattern as shown in the photo.

You may have to adjust your pattern longer or shorter depending on the size of the head you are making the headband for.

Fold the long sides of the headband pretty sides together as shown in the photo. Pin.
Stitch down the seam on the long side using the pressure foot as your guide.

Turn the headband pretty side out.

Press the headband nice and flat.
Embellish your headband with buttons, flowers, gems, ribbon, or lace.  Have fun with this part and be creative.
Pin the elastic inside one of the short ends. Stitch in place.
Place the headband on your head and adjust the elastic in the other small end until it fits nice and snug.

Then stitch in place.

Your adorable fabric headband is done.
