Sewing for the Fall Halloween Autumn & Harvest time... easy Autumn Harvest Country Primitive crafts to make

A group of handmade autumn items.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year to make crafts.  I love being inside while the leaves are turning color and falling off the trees, kids are back in school, the fabrics I work with are browns, tans, and rusts, and a bowl of candy corn is by my machine.  The projects you can make are endless. You've got Halloween, and right after that Thanksgiving so you can keep out all your pumpkins and scarecrows longer and just put your witches, Frankenstein's, and ghosts away until next year.

Halloween is the best.  There are so many crafts, dolls, quilts, and costumes to make. Here is a photo of some students who made some Halloween crafts like: A trick or treat bag with appliquéd candy corn, a beautiful gown for a costume, an awesome raggedy quilt with appliquéd leaves, a 1950's poodle skirt for a costume, and an awesome big pumpkin to hang on the front door.

These pumpkins are sew easy to make with just scraps of fall fabric lying around, extra buttons, raffia, and sticks from outside.  They are my biggest selling fall item by far. You can find these adorable pumpkins on our Very Easy sewing kits fall/Autumn page.

Yet another great thing about the fall is costume designing and making.  One of my favorite things to do.  I don't just wait for Halloween, I design costumes all year.  These four students took one of our costume design classes in the fall and made their Halloween costumes. (left to right) Heather, made a peasant costume, Kate made a costume from "Lord of the Rings", Sara made a Harry Potter robe, and Erika, made a dementor costume.
