Old World Father Christmas Finland Joulupukki

Love to Sew Studio presents a free sewing project.

Free Christmas Craft Pattern:

How to Make an Old World Father Christmas Doll - Finland

You will Need:
one piece of card stock paper
small scraps of cream fabric, other cream fabric for face (or use a wooden ball for Santa face)
scraps of white faux fur
white doll hair
basic craft needs like stuffing, black marker, fabric glue or hot glue, needle and thread

Cut a 8.5"X11" cardstock piece of paper in half.

Fold the paper to form a cone shape. Tape or staple in place. Cut off the bottom to make the cone stand flat.

Use the bottom of the cone to create a circle on beige fabric for the Santa face.

If you do not want to hand sew or machine sew you can purchase a wooden ball for the face.

(If you are using a wooden ball for the face skip this step.)

Place fabric pretty sides together and hand stitch or machine stitch around the outer edge of circle. Leave an opening for turning. Turn face pretty side out and stuff.

Draw a face on fabric or wooden ball.

Glue face onto cone.

Cut an 8"X4.25" piece of fabric for Santa coat. Drape coat over cone and glue in place. Cut an excess fabric from bottom.

Glue extra fabric on inside of bottom of body.

Glue a gold ribbon stripe down center of Santa body. Cut 5 pieces of ribbon 1". Glue in place as shown.
For fur cape cut a piece of white fur 7" X 5".
Fold in half and cut as shown in the photo.
Glue in place onto Santa body.
For hat cut a 6" X 6" square of white fur.

Cut in shape as shown in photo.

Fold fabric pretty sides together in half. Sew or Glue upper curved area.

Turn hat pretty side out. Glue under 1/4" to form a hem on curved edge of hat.

Glue hat in place on head.

Glue a bow on top of the hat.

Glue gold ribbon down side of cape.

Glue on beard and hair.
