How to make Big Fur Heart Pillows

Sewing for Valentine's Day

Show some LOVE this Valentine's day with these adorable Fur Heart shape pillows. They are super easy to make.

how to sew heart shape pillows To make these heart shape Valentine pillows you will need about 1/2 yard of red thick fur, and about 1/3 yard of soft pink fur.

Find a heart shape pattern or make one yourself.  I made my big one 19" X 14". I wanted big bold heart shape pillows, but you can make them any size you like.

Place the pillow PRETTY SIDES TOGETHER and pin around the heart as shown.

Make sure you leave about a 4" opening. As shown in the photo, you can see where I left the opening with the "X"'s I drew.

Stitch around the heart using the pressure foot as your guide. (Don't forget: Do not  sew at the opening so you can turn your heart pillow pretty side out.)

Turn your heart pillow pretty side out. Stuff your heart pillow.
Hand stitch the opening closed.

When sewing with fur it tends to stick in the seam. You can get a pin and gently pull the loose fur up at the seam line. Doing this "hides" the seam line, looks more professional, and makes the pillow seem "fluffier."

Your Fur Heart Valentine Pillow is done! Now make the pink one the same way.

Sometimes decorating is in how you display it.  Take for example these adorable red and pink fur heart pillows I made.  They were quick and easy to make, and didn't cost much at all.  But when I add greenery to the back ground with white lights, and drap glitter hearts with pearls over the pillows, it really looks inviting and festive on my fire place mantel for my sweethearts (kids) to see.
