Learn to Sew The Geek &
Girly Pleated Skirt & Tote Bag for School

Going for a geek chic look?
Traditionally, pleated skirts have been a more difficult project for
beginner sewers because most patterns require a side zipper, interfacing,
hook and eyes, and more. But don’t be discouraged, because our version is
pattern-free and is made using a sewn-in elastic waistband. You can also
learn to make a matching tote bag, to fill with all of your favorite books!
This Geek & Girly look appeared in Love to Sew’s advertisement in Irish
Quilting Magazine, and we paired the skirt and tote with a collared shirt,
grandpa cardigan, Buddy Holly glasses, frumpy socks, and two-tone oxfords.
Modeling the look are our long-time students, who helped make it, Elena and
Zoe. In real life, Zoe fits the part--she loves to read (and watch Dr Who).
In last year’s fashion show, she showed three variants of the pleated skirt
for her Geek Chic line!
All the "How to" tutorials for this look
will be posted on or before July 15, 2011.
