Organizing Your Sewing Room

Start by going through your supplies and space provided.  Organize your supplies in piles.  Buy plastic stackable boxes accordingly and label them. Keep fabric away from direct sun light to avoid fading.

Larger fabrics and/or large amounts of fabric store in large stackable plastic containers. Make your labels large and easy to read.

For large pieces of fabrics that are used often, keep out on display for easy and quick convenience to get to.  Arrange by color.

Save space by setting up shelves.  These long shelves are above 3 sewing machines on a table, therefore, no space is wasted.

Small stackable drawers are great for smaller pieces of fabric. (about the size of a "fat quarter") Arrange by color for best convenience. These drawers can also be taken out and moved easily to your sewing machine or craft table.

Whether you have a large or small sewing space organize it so that your time sewing will be fun, productive, and rewarding. If at all possible find a space where you can set up your sewing machine and leave it up at all times.

If you have a room just for sewing, that's great! If not, be creative, consider part of a bedroom, part of the family room, or a large closet. An organized area makes a happy sewer!

Here are some fun and uplifting books on organizing your Sewing area.
