Watching Legally
Blonde got me in the mood to design this pretty little owl
ornament. I named her "Elle", the Woods owl. |

Christmas Tree Ornament Sewing Pattern:
How to make a pretty little
"Elle" the "Woods"
Owl Ornament
|
| small scraps
of pink print fabric |
| ribbon for
handle (or use a metal ornament hook) |
|
embellishments like gems, feathers, felt scraps |
| fiber fill
or stuffing |
|
|
|
|
 |
Pin and cut out the owl
bodies, eyes, and nose from the pattern given above.
|
|
 |
Pin the nose on ONE of
the owl bodies. Sew the nose using a tight zig-zag stitch around the outer
edge of the nose.
Pin and sew the eyes on the same way.
If you are using a metal hook as a hanger you do
not need to add the ribbon.
If you want to use ribbon pin a 4" ribbon to the
top of the ornament with the folded part at the bottom as shown. Stitch at
the top edge to hold in place. |
 |
Pin the back and front
of the owl bodies pretty sides together. Pin around the outer edge. Leave
a 3" opening at the bottom. |
 |
Sew around the outer
edge of the owl using the pressure foot as your
guide. Make sure you do not sew the bottom.
Clip the points of the ear. Be careful not to cut
into your stitching. |
 |
Turn owl body pretty
side out. Stuff owl with fiberfill. Hand sew the opening closed. |
 |
Hot glue pink feathers
on the side as wings. Hot glue gems onto the eyes.
Happy Stitchin',
