Simple Pattern
Alteration...How to Shorten a Pattern Piece
 |
 |
At the correct position
indicated on the pattern piece, make a pleat half the depth of the desired
reduction. (example: if you want the pattern to be 2 inches shorter,
then make a 1 inch pleat. Remember a pleat will fold the 1 inch
twice, giving you a 2 inch shorter pattern.) |
 |
When doing this, keep your
grain line straight. Even out your pleat so that it is equal on both sides
of your pattern. (It is not even in the photo) |
 |
Use pins to hold your pleat in
place. Notice in this photo, the pleat is even, flat, and held by
pins. Notice the straight of grain line arrow is straight also. |
