Love to Sew Makes an
Apron for American Cooking TV star Paula Deen! |
| |
|

My mom, sister and I had the
wonderful opportunity of seeing America's best loved cook and restaurateur,
Paula Deen, at the Delaware State Fair. What a delight it was to hear her
stories. (She talked while her husband did the cooking.) If you ever get the
chance to see her, make sure you do--you will be blessed. She inspired me to
work harder on my sewing studio and believe in myself and my dreams. |
|

This is the apron I designed
and made for Paula!
I call this handmade apron, "Springtime."
This vintage apron is made from vintage
floral fabric that has pretty coral flowers with yellow centers and green
leaves and stems printed on it. Paula's apron is trimmed in 3 layers of pretty rick-rack
and has a green swirl print fabric down the center to slim one's figure.
Paula Deen's vintage apron is a very soft and feminine looking apron.

I added her name using a heat
bond at the bottom. |

Paula thanking my sister who
ran up to give her the apron. |
|

Paula saying her good-bye's
to the well attended audience. |
| The apron came about
because of practical necessity. In years gone by, people didn't have the
luxury of owning a large wardrobe. Washing and drying clothing was not
done on a frequent basis. So aprons served a practical purpose of covering
up the dress underneath to project it from soiling. This made washing much
easier. The apron would be washed every couple of days but the dress or
clothing underneath did not have to be washed as much, perhaps maybe once
a week. Click here for
more apron history information. |
