How to make Reversible Halloween/Thanksgiving Quilted Placemats

Easy to sew reversible placemats.

You will need; Halloween fabric, 2 Thanksgiving fabrics, quilt batting, and basic sewing needs.

 

Easy to sew reversible placemats.

These Halloween/Thanksgiving reversible place mats are fast and easy to make.  They are sew adorable for your holiday table, and once Halloween is done, just flip them over and you are ready for Thanksgiving.

 

Easy to sew reversible Thanksgiving placemat.

Straight stitch using the pressure foot as your guide will be the stitching process for this project. Directions and cutting are for 2 place mats.

Cut 2 - 12 1/2" X 11" from Autumn fabric

Cut 4 - 4" X 12 1/2" of your other Autumn fabric.

Place the 2 of the 4"X 12 1/2" pieces of fabric pretty sides down onto ONE of the 12 1/2" X 11" Autumn fabric, as shown in the photo, one on each side.  Pin. Stitch.

Press seams towards the center.

Quick and Easy to sew...the top of the placemat is done.

This is what the pretty side of your Thanksgiving place mat should look like.

The Halloween side of the placemat is just one piece of fabric.

Now let's cut the Halloween side.  Cut 2 pieces of Halloween fabric 18 1/2" X 12 1/2".

Cut 2 pieces of quilt batting 18 1/2" X 12 1/2 ".

Place one of the quilt battings on a flat surface.  Place one of the Halloween place mat pieces on top of the quilt batting.  The Halloween place mat will be PRETTY SIDE UP. Place one of the Thanksgiving place mats on top of the Halloween one with PRETTY SIDE DOWN. Pin around the place mat leaving an opening for turning.

Always trim seams and clip corners when making projects.

Stitch around the place mat, don't forget to leave an opening.

Clip corners and trim edges.  Turn your place mat pretty sides out. Poke out corners. Press.  Hand stitch the opening closed.

Easy quilting!

To "quilt" the place mat, straight stitch on the line where the two Thanksgiving fabric meet at the seam as shown in the photo.

Decorate your table at Thanksgiving time with these nice handmade quilted placemats.

As soon as Halloween is done, just flip your handmade placemats over for a nice Thanksgiving decoration.

Make your other place mat in the same manner.

Your adorable Thanksgiving/Halloween reversible place mats are done!!!
