Dress Forms for Making Your Own Clothes

Registration and Policies for Crafts of Chadds Ford, Love to Sew Studio classes and camps

Following are your registration options:

In-house: You are invited to register in person during any studio business hours. It is recommended that you call ahead regarding our hours of operation as our schedule varies.

Mail-In: Once placement and availability have been determined by phone or e-mail, you may mail your registration form and payment to the studio to reserve your spot.

Class sizes are very limited (usually 3-8 students per class) and fill up quickly. For these reasons, you may wish to register as soon as you know your fall or summer schedule. Once registration is received, a place will be reserved for you.  By holding your spot, others may be prevented from joining a class so please notify the studio immediately if you need to change or drop a class.

Registration Fee: We do not charge a yearly registration fee.

Special Note to Parents:

Pick up and Drop off times: Parents, please be considerate and do not drop off your child early or pick her/him up late. Our studio hours do not allow us for extra time between classes. We teach classes, special classes, private lessons, and sewing camps back-to-back, and we do not have a waiting room.

We understand that unavoidable things can happen. If your schedule does not allow you to pick up or drop off your child in a timely fashion, you may call the studio or email us in advance to make arrangements.

We are not a daycare. Parents who drop off their children more than ten minutes early and/or pick up their children more than ten minutes late (without prior notice and arrangements with the studio) will be charged a $30 childcare fee. If the extra time exceeds a half hour, the fee will be raised to $60, and so on.

Waiting Area: We do not have a waiting room or visitation area and our studio is very small. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but please do not treat the studio as a waiting room. Parents may feel free to drop their children off and pick them up at the studio, but not to stay during lesson hours. It is distracting to your own child as well as other students trying to learn and concentrate.

Attendance & Absences:

Punctuality: and regular attendance is a must for your progression in sewing.  All students are expected to arrive on time for their class and conduct themselves in an orderly fashion while on the premises.

Refund Policy: There are NO refunds, deductions, or credits granted for any missed class or camp, however Crafts of Chadds Ford/Love to Sew Studio offers a generous make-up policy. Make-up classes are available for any class missed due to illness, family vacation, or personal conflict. Make-up classes are preferred to be taken within one month of the missed class or prior to the missed class if you know when you will be absent. However students have until May of each year to do their make-up classes. To schedule a make up class, contact the studio.

School Closings: Love to Sew Studio has students that are residing in more than eight school districts. For this reason, we may not be closed on the same days as your school.  Any class that falls on a day in which the studio has a holiday closing does not need to be made up. These dates were accounted for in our payment schedule and are not considered "paid classes".
In the event of inclement weather, it is your responsibility to call the studio for details regarding class cancellations. You are always welcome to make up a class if it is canceled for bad weather. Occasionally we will offer double classes on a different date if bad weather occurs on a day when classes were scheduled.

Class Tuition: Tuition at Love to Sew Studio is based on; by the month, by the camp, or by the project.

Weekly classes have a monthly fee which is based on four weeks a month from September to the following May. We divide the sewing year up into two semesters, Sept. - Dec., and Jan. - May. Each class is counted and calculated from September to December. If holidays and snow days took effect during that time, December fees will be adjusted accordingly. The same is done for May's fee once January to May's fees have been calculated. You will be notified by e-mail for the adjusted fees for December and May.

Sick Days or Family Vacations: If your child is out due to an illness, personal reason, or family vacation, we encourage your child to make up the time for several reason. One, because the time was paid for, and we don't want the students feeling behind. Two, we encourage and support perfect attendance and reward students for this at our end of the year party.

Students Needing a Month or More Off: We do not have a policy where a student must sew for an entire sewing year. Many students have needed to take off a month or two for a sport, or school activity. If you must take off a month please keep in mind that your return is based on availability, and your spot may have been taken.

Information:
Love to Sew Studio sends home newsletters and e-mails throughout the year to keep you informed. Please read them carefully so you will have the needed information regarding tuition, upcoming events, contests, new classes, etc. If you have any questions throughout the year, feel free to e-mail us or give us a call. Our website calendar is also a valuable resource to find answers to your questions at any time.

Payment Options: Tuition may be paid in full at the start of the season or you may choose to pay month to month, or by the camp, or by the project (class). You may pay by personal check, cash,  Master Card or Visa, or PayPal. PayPal payments can be made to Crafts of Chadds Ford.

Extra Notes & Helpful Hints: If hair style is in the face, please keep hair secured tightly in a bun, braid, or ponytail. Hair in they eyes can distract the vision for sewing and cutting.

Being Prepared: Students should be dressed comfortably and ready to sew. Shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes must be comfortable and light for touching the foot pedal of the sewing machine. Thick soles, heavy boots, and clogs are not recommended.

Most important: Don't forget to bring your sewing bag to class!!!
