Designing, Sewing, & Making Handmade Ponchos and Capes

Photo Page 1

Christina's handmade poncho made from a thick brown tweed plaid fabric.

Emily is modeling a lined cape that Lyn made!

Alyssa made this adorable purple fleece poncho with appliquéd butterflies to wear to school on cool days.

Sara, a true Harry Potter fan, just like Jessica, wanted to make her own robe. Her robe or cape was made from  beautiful black velvet fabric, and her hood was lined with deep purple velvet fabric. She added a large Hogwarts emblem patch on her robe to make it official.

Just about any fabric can be used to make ponchos. Some suggestions are: fleece (as seen above), cotton, denim, corduroy, light weight wool, wool blends, and velvet. Your can find simple and easy sewing patterns for ponchos and capes in your favorite fabric store.

Olivia make a poncho for the fall time.
