Shannon stitched up this wool cape in no time using a pattern from the book Chic and Simple sewing.

Shannon used an antique brooch for her closure on the wool cape she just made to show in her next fashion show.

Shannon made this festive fall cape from wool fabric using our favorite sewing book, "Chic and Simple Sewing." Her closure is an antique brooch. Looks great Shannon and very fashion forward!

Christina makes a cape from tweed fabric for the autumn season.

Christina's handmade poncho made from a thick brown tweed plaid fabric.

Here is a lined cape that Lyn made which has a collar attached.

Here is an adorable purple poncho that nine year old Alyssa made from fleece fabric.

Alyssa made this adorable purple fleece poncho with appliquéd butterflies to wear to school on cool days.

Here is a Harry Potter handmade cape that Sarah made.

Sara, a true Harry Potter fan, just like Jessica, wanted to make her own robe. Her robe or cape was made from  beautiful black velvet fabric, and her hood was lined with deep purple velvet fabric. She added a large Hogwarts emblem patch on her robe to make it official.

Just about any fabric can be used to make ponchos. Some suggestions are: fleece (as seen above), cotton, denim, corduroy, light weight wool, wool blends, and velvet. Your can find simple and easy sewing patterns for ponchos and capes in your favorite fabric store.

Olivia sewed this cape for the fall season from ultra suede fabric.
