| It
is often said that if you can sew a straight line, you can make anything.
With this being said, if you are ready to take on the adventures in sewing
you'll want to practice to achieve nice straight stitching.
Begin by drawing
straight lines on a piece of paper with a ruler. With no thread in the
machine practice sewing straight on the lines. Once you have become
proficient at straight lines, thread the machine and test your skills on
fabric. Practice sewing straight seams, hems, and lines running parallel
to each other. Practice turning corners by pivoting. When you are ready to
pivot at a corner make sure your needle is in the fabric, then lift up the
pressure foot, move your fabric in place, and then put the pressure foot
back down again.
Continue
practicing until you have mastered seams and hemlines, and know how to
adjust the stitch length and width of your machine. |
