Dress Forms for Making Your Own Clothes

Rag, Raggedy, Ragged Quilt

Photo Page 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5

Rag quilts are awesome and fun to stitch up. There are no right or wrong sides to a raggedy quilt. Both sides are pretty! The best fabric to use for making rag quilts are fabrics that rag or fray nicely, like: cotton, denim, homespun, and flannel.

Sam's beautiful pink, black, and white raggedy quilt, made to match her bedroom.  GREAT JOB SAM!

Alexandra's autumn color raggedy quilt was quoted by the judges in a recent competition as being considered to win "Best of Show".

Alexandra made this raggedy quilt and entered it in a local quilt competition.  She took 1st place in her age division.  When she went to pick up her quilt after the show, a note was attached from the judges stating that her quilt was considered for "Best of Show", which is the highest award one can receive. As we mentioned on our "About Raggedy Quilts" page, there really is no "right" or "wrong", or "front" or "back" side on a raggedy quilt.  The photo below shows the other side of Alexandra's quilt.

Alexandra's Raggedy quilt did take 1st place in a recent sewing competition in the children's division.

Raggedy quilt sewn in natural shades...very country looking.

Ashley from Tennessee stitches up an easy to sew rag quilt.

Ashley from Tennessee shows us her very first sewing project ever... this adorable rag quilt she made for her daughter's first birthday. She bought a sewing machine off craigslist for $20.00 and has fallen in love with sewing. She has made 5 more raggedy quilts since. She also adds, "Thank you for your site. I enjoy looking at everyone else's ideas and works. They truly inspire me!"

Thank you for sharing your work with us Ashley.

Love to sew shows you how to sew a raggedy quilt.

To Learn More About Rag Quilt Making  we suggest A Year of Rag Quilts.   It's our favorite Raggedy Quilting book to use in our studio.  Also, we offer free photographed instructions on "How to Make a Rag Quilt" as an excellent guide for rag quilting.

Kathy's adorable heart raggedy quilt she made for her niece.

Kathy from the great state of Washington, made this adorable raggedy heart quilt for her niece who is expecting her first child. Notice that Kathy not only sewed the squares together to make a raggedy quilt but she added hearts on the pink flannel squares and ragged them too!  Very nice job!  I love it!

Notice the hearts are ragged too on this raggedy quilt.
