Handmade Christmas Tree
Ornaments
This handmade Santa Pillow Tree ornament
is too cute! For years I've had a version of this craft offered
in my sewing studio as a Christmas pillow for students to make,
which turned out to be a very popular item during the holiday
season. So I decided to make the ornament version too!

How to Make
a Cute Little Santa Pillow Ornament
You will Need:
two 5.5"
squares of red fabric
ribbon for
handle (or use a metal ornament hook)
one 2" X 5.5"
strip of white fur (or felt if you don't have fur)
Place the white fur
down the middle of one of the red squares pretty sides up. Pin in place. Stitch down each
side of white using a zig-zag appliqué stitch.
This is what the white
fur sewn on will look like.
Place the ribbon in the
center and pin as shown. Stitch the ends only.
Hand sew a button in
the middle. Sew the button going through the ribbon, fur, and fabric.
(You do not need to do
this step if you are using a metal hook for hanging, or if you want to
make it into a mini pillow and not a tree ornament.)
Pin and stitch a piece of ribbon as shown on the front
of the pillow. Stitch the ends of the ribbon in place.
Place front and back
pieces pretty sides together and pin. Mark a 3" opening on one side by
putting double pins. You do not want to sew there because that is where
you will turn your pillow pretty side out when you are done stitching it.
Stitch around the edge of the pillow using the
pressure foot as
your guide and pivoting at the corners. (Don't forget to leave the opening.)
Clip the corners and
trim seams if necessary.
Turn your Santa pillow
pretty side out and carefully poke out the corners. Stuff with fiberfill
and hand sew the opening closed.
How Cute! Your Santa
Pillow Ornament is done. All the great handmade
ornaments you make also make wonderful gift toppers too!
