Finish on a garment
Pinking a seam
allowance is done by trimming the seam allowances with pinking shears as
shown in the photo to the right. You will want to make sure that the teeth
on your pinking shears are sharp. Notice the "zigzag" appearance
that forms on the seam allowance.
"Pinking" a method of
finishing a seam allowance as shown above and should be used on non-fraying fabrics.
It could be used on fabrics such as of light weight cotton, or light
weight stretch. "Pinking" is NOT a strong seam finish.
