| About Sewing for
Cats- |
There are many neat
things you could make for your cat, like; coats, clothes, cat costumes, a
stocking for Christmas, cat beds, toys, and cat quilts. Cats don't have
the same tolerance as dogs do and may not want to wear cat clothes or
coats, but you can still make plenty of things for your cat.
If you intend on having costumes or clothes for your cat, it is best to
start them off as kittens so they will get used to the fact of wearing
clothes, or hats. Most importantly, have fun with your cat and what you
make it!!! |
| Best Fabric to use- |
Stay clear of "itchy"
fabrics. Cats, just like humans can be bothered by fabric that is
itchy or uncomfortable. Also, stay away from fabric that may make
one sweat. The best fabrics for cat clothes and coats would be 100 %
cotton fabrics that "breathe." Also flannel and fleece are good for
cat coats. |
| Easy Type Patterns- |
I have not seen a
"cat" clothes or coat pattern, so this is where your design and pattern
making skills need to come into place. |

| Cost and Fabric
usage- |
Cat toys,
clothes, and quilts will require much smaller amounts of fabric,
therefore, spending much less money. |
| Comments- |
If you are
making toys for cats, before you close up the hole of a pillow, or stuffed
mouse, or fabric toy you just made, add some cat nip!!! Trust me, your cat
will love their new toy. |

Here is a handmade
cat toy. A mouse made from corduroy with a yarn tail, and cat nip
was stuffed on the inside. With the yarn, and the cat nip, this is a
great handmade cat toy. This pattern was made by a mouse drawn on paper,
and then pinned, cut, and then sewn together. |
