Smart Solutions for Storage:
I have an old Victorian home dating back 120 years. That means great
character, but no storage! I have to be really creative with the
space I have and yet keep it looking attractive too. I also love to
keep with the character of my home, and make each room flow. I
wanted to focus on my bedroom, because I only have one small closet
for my husband and I to use. My main issue are all my shoes. What
girl doesn't love shoes! But where in the world to put them all.
This project will be a great way to store your high heels and give a
great statement to a blank wall, or even a walk-in closet (lucky
you.) The supplies you will need for the project are:
| -Decorative Crown
Molding -Paint /
Brush
-Electric Saw |
- Nails
-
Measuring Tape
- Leveler |
|
 |
I found my
decorative molding at my local home improvement store, and I choose
a molding that kept with the character of my home. Also make sure
your molding has a deep enough ledge for the heel of your shoes to
rest on.
Make sure you
measure the space your are doing before you buy the molding, so
you have an idea of how much you will need. |
|
 |
Paint the molding.
I choose the same color that I painted my trim with in my
bedroom. But you can choose any color you want. |
|
 |
Once your
molding has dried, measure the width you need to cut your pieces
with your saw. Then grab your leveler and your cut piece of
molding and nail it in place. |
|
 |
You will most
likely need to touch up over the nail heads with paint. |
|
 |
The great
thing about this idea is that you can really hang anything off of
the moldings. I hope this solved a problem in your home like it
did mine.
