Christmas Tree Ornament Project Idea:
How to Make a Rustic Stick Felt Christmas Tree
Pillow Ornament |
| |
| You will Need: |
| |
| green felt |
| ribbon |
| button |
| sticks from a tree
branch |
| hot glue |
| stuffing |
| basic sewing supplies |
| |
| I was bored one night
while my students were dry needle felting.
I saw some little tiny branches sitting on the table to be used for
snowman arms, and I just starting playing
around, and this is what I came up with. It was an instant hit and that
night several students made this ornament! |
|
|
 |
Cut two 4"x5" pieces of green
felt. Cut
one piece of ribbon 5". |
 |
Pin the ribbon down on one of the
felt pieces as shown in the photo.
Stitch in place. |
 |
Pin the felt pieces pretty sides
together at the top and both sides.
Keep the ribbon down on the felt piece the way it was pinned. It will come
up the right way after it is sewn. Leave the bottom open. |
 |
Stitch around the two sides and the
top using the pressure foot as your guide.
Turn the ornament pretty side out. |
 |
Stuff the ornament with fiberfill.
Hand sew the opening at the bottom closed. |
 |
Break sticks to form a tree shape.
Hot glue the sticks on to form a tree shape. Hot glue or hand-sew the
button on the top. |
 |
Your adorable stick tree ornament is
finished. See some other versions of this ornament below.
Send us a photo of your
finished ornament. We love to get photos of projects our readers have
made! Happy Stitchin',
