How to Make Yarn Pompoms

Yarn pompoms are quick and easy to make.

All you need to make a yarn pompom is yarn, scissors, and a piece of cardboard. When making Yarn Pompoms you will need:

yarn, scissors, and cardboard or card stock.

The size of your yarn pompom is determined by how big the cardboard pattern is.

The size of your yarn pompom will be will be determined by the size of your card stock.  In the photo to the left I made 3 different card stock sizes, which gave me 3 different size pompoms as you can see.  Just have fun and play around with it until you get the size you want.

Start by winding the yarn around the folded card stock.
Wind and wind until your little hand gets tired! The thickness of your pompom will be  determined by how much yarn you use when winding it around.
If you want a real thich and round pompom, then add lots and lots of yarn. Once you think you have the thickness you want, take a 9 inch piece of yarn and slip it through in between the yarn and the cardstock and tie a very tight knot at the top making sure you have caught all the yarn.
At the other end slip a pair of scissors through the fold ends of all the yarn and snip.
Trim the ends of your yarn on the pompom so that the bottom of the pompom is even.
Your pompom is done!
Love to make yarn pompoms! Have fun making tons of pompoms.
